Accelerated Reader (AR) is the world’s most popular reading management software. Accelerated Reader provides teachers with an easy and effective way to monitor all forms of guided reading practice. Teachers get detailed, objective data to target instruction and ensure success for every student, regardless of level, from emergent reader to college prep!

A diagnostic test is administered at the end of every quarter and the teacher is supplied with the information to help students select books within the correct reading range.

Accelerated Reader is part of the reading curriculum at Shiloh Christian School. The following list outlines the reading criteria for students in grades 1-12.

Grades 1-6

Grade 1- 2 points earned per month
Grade 2- 4 points earned per month
Grade 3- 6 points earned per month
Grade 4- 8 points earned per month
Grade 5- 10 points earned per month
Grade 6- 10 points earned per month

Grades 7-8

Grade 7- 10 points earned per quarter
Grade 8- 10 points earned per quarter

High School

Grade 9- 12 points earned per 9 week period
Grade 10-12 points earned per 9 week period
Grade 11- Points based on novels taught in literature curriculum
Grade 12- Points based on novels taught in literature curriculum
