Shiloh Learning Center

Shiloh Christian School is committed to providing a Christ centered education to an increasingly diverse student population. Shiloh Learning Center strives to meet the needs of the individual while upholding the school’s vision.

As Shiloh’s student population grows, more students with needs outside the realm of the average learner become apparent. Research indicates that between 5 and 15% of a student population will have some type of academic and or physical disability. Approximately 13% of our students are receiving some type of service over and above the classroom instruction.

Identification of Student’s Needs

Classroom teachers and parents are key players in this process as they are the first to notice when a child is not performing at expected levels and therefore can refer the student to the Shiloh Learning Center. Classroom observations, academic evaluations, and collaboration with community agencies are the ways used to effectively identify the student’s need.

Individualized Programming

The Shiloh Learning Center offers individualized programming to students with significant learning differences. These differences can be manifested in a variety of ways. Students may experience difficulties in one or more of the following areas; reading, written language, math, spelling, social skills, processing, cognitive delays, understanding of expressive and/or receptive language, and articulation. A child dealing with a disability in one of the aforementioned categories must have specialized teachers and programming in order to succeed in the classroom. A combination of regular education and limited pull-out services is proving to be very effective for our learners with special needs.

Remediation

Some students may not have a disability, but require assistance to learn new skills or to overcome the barriers of understanding certain concepts. Tutoring services are available to students on an individual or small group session.

Some favorite Bible verses and quotes
Philippians 4:6-9 – Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made know to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. The things you have learned and received and heard and seen I me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
Psalms 139:23-24 – Search me O God and know my heart; try me and know my anxious thoughts; and see if there is  any hurtful way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way.

We miss out on God’s best when we get ahead of His plan.
